Restricted key systems are designed to give you peace of mind that unauthorised people don't have keys to your premises. This is particularly important for businesses, where security is usually paramount to prevent loss or theft.

With each key being individually stamped with your specific system no, and also numbered, it makes it easy to see who has what key. As part of the security of a restricted key system, only authorised people can contact us to request additional keys. This is achieved by faxing a supplied form to us with the relevant details and an authorised signature.

Keys can then be created for your system, and then delivered to you, usually within 24 hours of us receiving the request.

Because restricted key systems can be complex to organise, it can take up to 48 hours to create your system. The usual method is as follows:

1. Survey of premises to list parts required.
2. If a master key system is required, this is then organised during the initial survey. Click here for more information on master key systems.
3. Initial paperwork to be signed.
4. We then create your system and electronically record all details. (There is a key register being created that will allow you to keep records of who has what key. No ETA on this as yet.)
5. All keys are then created.
6. Once that is done, we can then come back out to your premises to install the system.

Once the system is installed, all locks are then tested to confirm they are mechanically sound, and keys are then handed over.

Because of the process listed above, and due to the nature of restricted key systems in general, it is usually more expensive than a regular non-restricted system.

Pricing for a restricted key system is as follows:

• Service charge: $80
• Barrels: $20 each
• Keys: $20 each
• Recombination of cylinders: $20 each

For example, you might have a shop that has a front door, and a rear door. Both of these doors have keyways on both sides. That counts as 4 cylinders. So, to insert a restricted system with 4 keys there would cost the following:

• Service charge: $80
• 4 x barrels: $80
• 4 x recombination: $80
• 4 x keys: $80
• Total: $320 + GST

The equivalent work for a non-restricted system would cost $170 + GST. But, you now have piece of mind knowing that there is no one out there that you haven't authorised that has a key.
